نظرية معرفية تؤكد أن تصريحًا ما أو بيانًا ما صحيح وحق حين يكون متسقًا مع مجموعة أكبر من التصريحات أو البيانات المسلَّم بأنها صحيحة وحق. وإن تناقضت التصريحات فيما بينها، يُفترض أن أحدها أو كليهما غير صحيح. تكمن نقطة ضعف نظرية الترابط المنطقي في أنه لا يمكن إيجاد برهان على "نقطة الانطلاق أو البداية" أو "التصريح الأول" لنظام إيماني وعقائدي ما؛ وإنما ما نجده هو أن مثل هذا النظام العقائدي يُقبل عادة على أساس أنه صحيح بديهيًّا.
