التي تشرح أساسيات العقيدة المسيحية القويمة. وضعتها الكنيسة في القرون الأولى للمسيحية، وسمِّيت كذلك لأنها تشهد عن إيمان المسيحيين في كل العالم. ملحوظة: تأتي كلمة creed "قانون الإيمان" من الفعل في اللغة اللاتينية credo الذي معناه أؤمن. "إن قوانين الإيمان المسكونيَّة، بما فيها قانون إيمان الرسل (تم صياغته خلال الأربعة قرون الأولى ميلاديًّا)، وقانون الإيمان النيقاوي-القسطنطيني (غالبًا ما يدعى قانون الإيمان النيقاوي 325/381 ميلاديًّا)، وقانون الإيمان الأثناسي (بعد 428 ميلاديًّا)، وتوضيح خلقدونية (451 ميلاديًّا)، تم قبولها على نطاق واسع عبر الأجيال من قبل كثير من الكنائس المتعددة. فمن خلالها ردت الكنيسة قديمًا على بعض الهرطقات الشهيرة التي ظهرت للديانة المسيحيَّة."[28]
