العمل الأزلي الذي يميِّز الآب والابن به نفسيهما، وبموجبه يزفران (يبثقان) الوجود الأقنومي للروح القدس، ومن ثَمَّ ينقلان إليه الجوهر الإلهي كاملًا. وقد انفصلت الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية الشرقية عن الكنيسة الغربية بسبب اعتراضها على عبارة في الصيغة الغربية لقانون إيمان نيقية، تقول إن الروح القدس منبثق من الآب والابن، انظر (filioque).
