عبارة تُستخدم لوصف العلاقة الموجودة بين الأقنوم الأول والثاني في الثالوث، حيث يقال إن الآب وَلَدَ (beget) الابن أزليًّا. بعبارة أخرى، فإن هُوية الابن بصفته الابن تُعرَّف أزليًّا من حيث علاقته بالآب. وبالمثل، الآب هو الآب أزليًّا من حيث علاقته بالابن. الولادة الأزلية هي العمل الأزلي، والضروري الذي يميِّز اللهُ الآبُ به ذاتَه، والذي بموجبه يَلِدُ الوجودَ الأقنوميَّ للابن، ناقلًا للابن الجوهرَ الإلهيَّ بكامله.
