(1337-1453). هي في الأساس نزاع بين فرنسا (مقر البابوية) وإنجلترا. حيث إن الباباوات كانوا يقيمون في أفينيون تحت ظل الفرنسيين خلال جزء كبير من الحرب فقد أصبح الإنجليز ينظرون إلى البابوية على أنها عدوهم. بلغت الحرب ذروتها بسقوط القسطنطينية بيد الأتراك عام 1453 الذين غيَّروا اسم المدينة إلى إسطنبول.
