المؤمنون الحقيقيون بالمسيح. يُستخدَم المصطلح في العهد الجديد بالمعنى العام (كل المؤمنين) وبالمعنى المحلي (جماعة محدَّدة من المؤمنين يجتمعون في مكان واحد). جماعة المؤمنين الحقيقيين في كل الأزمنة. جماعة من الناس المدعوين معًا. كلمة تُستخدم عمومًا لترجمة الكلمة اليونانية العامة ekklēsia، التي تعني على وجوه مختلفة "جماعة" أو "اجتماع أو تجمُّع" أو "جمهور". غير أن العهد الجديد يميل إلى استخدام الكلمة للإشارة إلى جميع الذين بالإيمان بشخص المسيح وعمله بوصفه الإعلان الأكمل عن الله، الذين دخلوا علاقة جديدة مع الله وبعضهم مع بعض (انظر 1كورنثوس 1: 9، 10)، والذين هم مسكن الروح القدس على الأرض (1كورنثوس 3: 16).
